To celebrate the 38th International Specialized Symposium on Yeasts we are launching a
Thematic Issue of FEMS Yeast Research entitled “ISSY38: Yeast the Omni-tool”. This special edition of
FEMS Yeast Research honors the pivotal role ISSY and the ICY play in advancing global yeast research and features articles that align with the key themes of the conference.
FEMS Yeast Research is a fully open access journal and all accepted articles will be subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC). Authors from institutions that have
Read and Publishing agreements with Oxford University Press are entitled to APC waivers. Members of FEMS affiliated societies, authors who have recently published with the journal, and authors who have reviewed for the journal are also entitled to substantial APC discounts. FEMS Yeast Research is also offering
an additional 10 APC waivers to ISSY38 conference delegates who are not otherwise entitled to a waiver. These will be allocated on a “first-come, first-served basis” so authors whose submission depends on receipt of such a waiver should email the Editor in Chief, Prof John Morrissey, prior to submission to reserve a waiver – subject of course to the manuscript being accepted following the standard peer review process.
Key areas featured in this Special Issue align with ISSY38 scope '
About'
The complete collection will launch in 2025, providing a comprehensive look at the state-of-the-art in yeast research which will be presented during the ISSY38.
Submission is already Open. The deadline for submission is
30 April 2025, but an
extension towards ISSY38 event is possible. Yet, adherence to this deadline will enable us to complete the standard quality peer-review process in time for a TI launch to coincide with the ISSY38. We hope ISSY38 will bring together researchers from around the world to explore the wide-ranging potential of yeast, and bring readers to your article.

The cover letter should also indicate whether an APC waiver is being requested. Prospective authors should also consult the journal guidelines on the website and note that FEMS Yeast Research will only accept papers that report significant advances in yeast biology.
Please feel most welcome to join us in creating this Thematic Issue!
